Arca (O Pedrouzo)

What to Know

Arca, also known as O Pedrouzo or Lavacolla, is the last major stop before Santiago de Compostela. Located just 20 kilometers from the cathedral, it serves as the final overnight stop for most pilgrims completing the Camino Francés. The village has a practical, end-of-journey feel, with many services catering to walkers in their last day on the trail.

Arca is also home to the historic Lavacolla ritual site, where medieval pilgrims would wash themselves in the river before entering Santiago. Today, the village maintains a busy but functional atmosphere as pilgrims prepare emotionally and physically for their arrival in the holy city.

Pilgrim Reflection

Arca invites us to pause before the end. As we near the completion of any meaningful journey, it is valuable to take a moment to reflect on what we have experienced, what we have learned, and who we have become along the way.
