Privacy Policy

The app stores the following information locally on your device only, using your browser's localStorage. This data is never transmitted to our servers or shared with third parties.

• Pilgrim name — the name you optionally enter at first launch.
• Journey start date — the date you set as your Camino start.
• Visited locations — which of the 50 Camino stops you have marked as visited.
• Notes — personal reflections and journal entries you write within the app.
• Language preference — your selected display language (English, Spanish, Korean, or French).
• App usage data — basic diagnostics such as app opens and feature usage, stored locally on your device for your own reference.

The app may request access to your device's GPS location for the following purposes:

• Displaying your live distance to Santiago de Compostela.
• Sending a one-time local notification when you are physically near a Camino location.
• Verifying your physical presence at geo-locked locations (León, Sarria, and Santiago de Compostela) before marking them as visited.

Location access is entirely optional and only activated if you choose to enable it. Your location data is processed on-device and is never stored or transmitted to any server.

The app uses the following third-party services:

• Vercel — hosts the app. Vercel may log standard web request data (IP address, browser type) in accordance with their Privacy Policy.
• Google Translate API — used to translate story content into your selected language. Text content from location stories is sent to Google for translation. No personal information is included. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• OpenStreetMap / Leaflet — powers the map view. Map tile requests are made to OpenStreetMap servers. See OpenStreetMap's Privacy Policy.

All personal data (name, notes, visited locations, journey date) is stored exclusively on your device using browser localStorage. We have no access to this data. Clearing your browser data or uninstalling the app will permanently delete all stored information.

The app is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times. You can delete your data by clearing your browser's localStorage or uninstalling the app. No account is required and no data is held on our servers.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
